This figurine's backstory and name is inspired by an actual dog that I met in person!

Lily the Dachshund is an introverted sweetheart. Coming from a litter of 14 puppies, she's been through her fair share of chaotic and loud environments, which is why she prefers to keep to herself. Luckily, her friend Henry the Hamster always makes sure to include her when hanging out with the other animals. Being kind and gentle is the way to win her heart (snacks will definitely help too). This hand-finished 3D printed sculpture is printed and finished right here at my workshop in the Netherlands.

✦ About Lily

Lily loves puppachinos, relaxing in her bed, and watching the birds in the garden. And while she doesn't let it show all the time, she genuinely appreciates Henry bringing her along to social gatherings to meet new people. She comes in two sizes, Medium and Magnified, so you can choose the Lily that fits your shelf best.

✦ Fun Fact

Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers, their long bodies and short legs were perfectly designed for burrowing into tunnels and flushing out prey. The name even means "badger dog" in German. Lily has retired from this career entirely and now applies her considerable determination exclusively to napping and being admired.

Lily's Medium measurements are approximately 16.4 × 4.3 × 10 cm (L × W × H).
The Magnified version is approximately 22 × 5.8 × 13 cm (L × W × H).
Because Lily was designed as a figurine and not as a toy, please be careful with her when children are around: everything has been sanded down where needed for safety, but some sharp parts could still be present.

✦ Finish and care

Living with a print

Layer lines, honestly

It's a print, so it reads like one up close. Seams get sanded, supports get cleaned off, nothing gets filled in to fake a moulded look.

Keep it out of hot cars

PLA starts to soften around 50 °C. A sunny windowsill is fine: a parked car in August is not.

Dusting

Dry brush or a soft cloth. If it needs more than that, lukewarm water and patience: no solvents.
