✦ Trivia

Full of Happiness

Togepi stores the positive emotions of people and Pokémon inside its shell, feeding off kindness and joy to stay energised. In the Pokémon anime, Misty carried one in its unhatched egg form for so long that the bond became iconic — it's one of the most recognisable Pokémon of its era.

A Johto Fairy Before Fairies Existed

Introduced in Generation II as a Normal-type, Togepi was retroactively reclassified as a Fairy-type when that type was introduced in Generation VI. It was, in other words, a Fairy-type Pokémon for fifteen years before the games caught up.

Notoriously Hard to Obtain

In the original Gold and Silver, Togepi couldn't be caught in the wild at all — it had to be hatched from an Egg given to you by Professor Elm's aide. That single egg made it one of the most memorable early-game gifts in the series.

The Spike Ball Pokémon

Despite its small stature and gentle nature, Togepi's line eventually evolves into Togekiss — one of the most competitively viable Fairy-types in the entire franchise. The cheerful little egg has a genuinely impressive ceiling.
