Sandshrew — No. 027 — 3D Printed Character Ball
Sandshrew has been rolling up and minding its business since Generation I, and this hand-finished Character Ball captures that unbothered desert energy perfectly, made right here at my workshop in the Netherlands.
Dimensions fully assembled: approximately 7 × 6.9 × 7 cm (L × W × H)
Designed by N3D. Printed, finished and shipped by Hand of Stardust.
Photos shown are of the fully finished Stardust Finish variant.
✦ Stardust Finish
Every Sandshrew arrives as a Stardust Finish: fully printed in Sandshrew's warm sandy yellow with its distinctive pale underbelly detail, assembled by hand and ready to display. A quietly tough little collectible for any shelf.
✦ Want to build it yourself?
Prefer the hands-on experience? I also offer a Builder's Kit option: all parts printed in the correct colours, unassembled and ready for you to put together yourself. Just reach out via Instagram or email and I'll sort it out.
✦ Trivia
A Kanto Original
Sandshrew was introduced in Generation I as one of the version-exclusive Pokémon in Pokémon Blue (and Yellow), while Red players got Ekans instead. That exclusivity made it a genuine trade target in the original games: a badge of honour for Blue version kids everywhere.
Built for the Desert
Sandshrew's tough, hide-like skin protects it from both harsh desert terrain and enemy attacks. When threatened, it rolls into a tight ball to shield its softer underbelly: a defensive mechanic that its evolution Sandslash takes even further with its spike-covered back.
An Alolan Reinvention
Generation VII gave Sandshrew an Ice/Steel-type regional form exclusive to Alola: white-furred, metallic-plated, and adapted for snowy mountain conditions. It's one of the more dramatic Alolan redesigns: same cheerful face, entirely different vibe.
Deceptively Capable
Sandshrew's line has a long history in competitive play thanks to Sand Rush, an ability that doubles Speed in a sandstorm. Alolan Sandslash also carved out a niche as a Hail team staple. For a Pokémon that mostly just wants to curl up and be left alone, it punches well above its weight.

Living with a print
It's a print, so it reads like one up close. Seams get sanded, supports get cleaned off, nothing gets filled in to fake a moulded look.
PLA starts to soften around 50 °C. A sunny windowsill is fine: a parked car in August is not.
Dry brush or a soft cloth. If it needs more than that, lukewarm water and patience: no solvents.
