✦ Trivia

Born from an Apricorn

The Fast Ball is one of Kurt's original Apricorn balls from Pokémon Gold and Silver, crafted from a white Apricorn. It was one of the first balls in the series to introduce a situational catch mechanic rather than a flat catch rate boost.

Built for Speed... Literally

The Fast Ball applies a 4× catch rate modifier to Pokémon that are known to flee or that have high base Speed stats. In the original Gold and Silver, that meant Pokémon like Magnemite, Grimer and Tangela... not exactly the speedsters you'd expect.

A Johto Original

Along with the other Kurt balls, the Fast Ball was mostly absent from the main series for years after Gen II, making it a fan favourite among collectors who grew up with Gold and Silver. Its return in later titles was genuinely celebrated.

Unmistakable on a Shelf

That yellow lightning bolt on a red shell is one of the most striking designs in the entire Poké Ball lineup. Simple, bold, and instantly recognisable to anyone who played through Johto.
