Assembly tips
If you want to take the "DIY" or "Partially Assembled" route, I recommend having at least these things at the ready for when you are going to assemble your kit. Taking the proper precautions allows you to have all the fun and as little worries as possible during your assembly.
- CA (cyanoacrylate) glue
Feel free to use your favorite brand, but make sure it has an application tip!
If you never used it before: a little smear of glue goes a long way! And of course: use protection for your hands and surfaces! This stuff really gets stuck.
- Tweezers
Can be useful for keeping some small parts in place if needed
- A sheet or some paper to work on
Just make sure you don't damage any surfaces
- Proper protective gear for your hands, eyes, etc.
Wear a long sleeve shirt, even hand and eye protection when needed.
- Take your time and enjoy the process!
It's all about having fun and seeing your work progress as you go, so take your time and stop to admire the details of what you're doing every now and then.

Trivia
A Ball of Advantage
Introduced in Generation II, the Level Ball boosts catch rates when your Pokémon’s level is higher than the wild target.
However, in Gold, Silver, and Crystal a programming bug caused the game to check a Pokémon’s internal index number instead of its level. This meant certain species were always treated as if they qualified for the highest bonus, while others didn’t benefit at all. The issue was fixed in later generations, restoring the intended scaling mechanic.
Anime Strategy Spotlight
In the Johto arc of Pokémon the Series, Kurt is shown crafting Apricorn Balls, including the Level Ball. While it doesn’t feature heavily in battles onscreen, its unique mechanic has made it a favorite among fans who enjoy roleplaying as resourceful Trainers.
Unlock Conditions in Modern Games
The Level Ball has reappeared across multiple generations:
- HeartGold & SoulSilver: crafted from Red Apricorns by Kurt.
- Sun & Moon: obtainable via Apricorns and the Festival Plaza.
- Sword & Shield (Isle of Armor): available through Cram-o-Matic recipes and rare distributions.
- Scarlet & Violet: sometimes found via auctions or special events.
Its catch rate modifier remains tied to level comparisons, making it one of the most tactical Apricorn Balls.
Design Origins
The Level Ball’s striking yellow top with red V motif, black accents, and white lower half symbolizes the concept of “level advantage.” Its origins trace back to the Red Apricorn, one of the traditional materials used by Kurt to craft specialty Poké Balls in Johto.
